Gillette Castle
This structure, sitting on a cliff over 100 feet above the Connecticut River in Lyme CT, was designed and built by American stage and screen actor William Gillette between 1914 and 1919. The 14,000 sq ft, 24-room home has - among other fascinating features - secret passageways, an integrated fire suppression system fed by a water tower, and 47 unique doors, each with a different carved wood trick lock.
